  1. Are you (or anyone else) aware of any Nordic walking classes available in the Hudson River Valley (NY) area?

    1. In an ideal Nordic Walking world, it would be easy to find instructors anywhere in the country using online resources. But it is not an ideal world, and most training and certifying organizations keep their lists to themselves. One notable exception is Suzanne Nottigham of Nordic Walk Now. NWN instructors are searchable on the website. Contacts for New York instrtuctors are at http://nordicwalknow.com/nordicwalkinginstructorsearch.asp. I am not sure how up-to-date this is, because Lindy Speizer (Buffalo) is now Lindy Smith and relocated to Florida a few years ago. Otherwise, I suggest that you check with nearby rec centers, adult education classes or senior centers (if that’s your demographic) for a local resource. Another option is to see whether the American Nordic Walking Assn., International Nordic Walking Association, Exerstrider, etc. might be scheduling an instructor training course that’s convenient for you. They are more expensive than a rec center or other class, of course, but in learning how to teach, you learn — whether or not you ever intend to teach or lead a Nordic Walking group.
